Israel Rescues Citizens Stranded in Ethiopia Amid Security Escalation
A group of Israelis who were stranded in Lalibela, northern Ethiopia, due to a severe security escalation in the region has been successfully rescued. The operation, which concluded after three days of intensive efforts, involved evacuating the Israelis by helicopter to a secure area. From there, they are expected to continue their journey to Addis Ababa.
The complex rescue mission was facilitated by the concerted efforts of Foreign Minister G Gideon Saar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Israeli Embassy in Addis Ababa. These entities worked in close coordination with relevant Ethiopian authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed significant appreciation to the Ethiopian government and its authorities for their swift support in the rescue operation. They also extended gratitude to all professional personnel involved behind the scenes.
Upon their arrival in Addis Ababa, Israeli representatives in Ethiopia will continue to provide comprehensive support to the rescued citizens until their safe return to Israel.
