Elderly Woman Killed by Truck in Gaza Envelope Area

An approximately 90-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning when she was struck by a truck on Highway 3525 near Kibbutz Beerot Haim, in the Gaza Envelope region. Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

MDA paramedic Einav Yeshayahu described the incident as "a difficult event." She stated, "The pedestrian was lying on the road, unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, with severe multi-system trauma after being hit by a truck. We performed medical checks and unfortunately had to pronounce her dead at the scene."

This fatality brings the total number of road deaths in Israel to 339 since the beginning of the year. The incident follows several other recent fatal accidents, including a 19-year-old motorcyclist who died on Highway 12 near Eilat on Tuesday after skidding, and a 30-year-old man who was killed on Highway 65 in the Galilee region after apparently colliding with a horse. Earlier in the week, a man died in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 232, also in the Gaza Envelope area, near the Ibim Junction close to Sderot.
