Elderly Woman Killed by Truck in Southern Israel Road Accident

An approximately 90-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning in a fatal road accident on Highway 3525 in the Lachish region, near the community of Bror Chayil in southern Israel. The woman was struck by a truck while walking on the road.

Emergency medical services, Magen David Adom (MDA), were dispatched to the scene at 6:56 AM after receiving a report of a severely injured pedestrian. Upon arrival, paramedics and EMTs found the woman unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, suffering from extensive, multi-system trauma. Despite their efforts, they were forced to declare her dead at the scene.

MDA paramedic Einav Yeshayahu described the scene as "difficult," noting the pedestrian was lying on the road with severe injuries after being hit by a truck. "We performed medical examinations and unfortunately had to determine her death at the scene," she stated.

This incident adds to a recent spate of fatal road accidents across Israel. Just days prior, a cyclist was killed on Highway 44, and the previous week, a pedestrian was killed in the Sharon region after being hit by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.

The Israel Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of this latest fatal collision. Traffic accident investigators from the Southern District Police are collecting evidence at the scene to determine how the tragedy occurred and what led to the fatal injury of the elderly pedestrian.
