Elderly Driver Hits and Kills Pedestrian in Tel Aviv

An 80-year-old woman died after being struck by a car while crossing a busy street in Tel Aviv on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred on Bnei Ephraim Street in the northern part of the city. It remains unclear whether the woman was in a crosswalk or who was at fault for the accident.

The victim was initially taken to Ichilov Hospital with a head injury, with paramedics describing her condition as moderate. However, her condition deteriorated en route to the hospital, and she was later classified as critical. She passed away several hours after arriving at the hospital.

Police faced challenges investigating the hit-and-run as the driver fled the scene and few witnesses were present when emergency services arrived. Investigators identified the vehicle involved by reviewing surveillance footage. The car's owner, an approximately 80-year-old man, was located and questioned. He told police that he did not notice anything unusual during his drive.
