Elderly Woman Dies in Hit-and-Run; 80-Year-Old Driver Arrested
An elderly woman in her 80s was killed Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle on Bnei Ephraim Street in northern Tel Aviv. Police arrested an 80-year-old man on suspicion of fleeing the scene after hitting the pedestrian.
According to initial reports, the driver struck the pedestrian and then fled. Traffic police and officers from the Tel Aviv North station in the Yarkon district initiated a search for the suspect, apprehending him shortly thereafter. The driver has been taken in for questioning.
The incident was reported to Magen David Adom's emergency services at 11:26 AM. The victim was transported to Ichilov Hospital in the city, where medical personnel pronounced her dead.
