A 67-year-old man was shot dead Tuesday morning on Highway 70 near the Kabal junction, close to the Krayot area. Magen David Adom crews arrived after a report at 6:28 a.m. and pronounced him dead at the scene. Police opened an investigation and said the background to the shooting appears to be criminal. A burned vehicle was found near the scene, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released.
MDA medic Jamal Abu Romi said the wounded man was found unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing, and with penetrating injuries. “We carried out medical checks, but his injury was critical and we were forced to declare him dead at the scene,” he said.
Police said officers rushed to the area, began searches for suspects, and started examining the circumstances of the incident. In its statement, the police said, “As a result of the shooting, a person was pronounced dead whose identity is still unknown.”
