A 67-year-old man was shot dead Tuesday morning on Route 70 near the Kaaboul junction, close to the Krayot area in northern Israel. Magen David Adom crews arrived after an emergency call at 6:28 a.m. and pronounced him dead at the scene. Police said they believe the incident was criminal in nature and opened an investigation.
According to MDA paramedic Jamal Abu Romi, the victim was found unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, with penetrating wounds. “We carried out medical checks, but his injury was critical and we were forced to declare him dead at the scene,” he said.
Police said the identity of the dead man has not yet been established. Officers were dispatched to the area, began searching for suspects involved in the shooting, and are probing the circumstances of the killing.
A car that had been set on fire was discovered near the scene, adding to the suspicion that the shooting was part of a planned criminal hit. The initial report to MDA described a man injured in a violent incident, before his death was confirmed on site.
