Sakhnin Plans October Uprising Memorial Events with Broad Public Participation

The Sakhnin Municipality and the Popular Committee have outlined a program to commemorate the October Uprising, with events scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026. These commemorations will involve residents, popular delegations, and the general public, with activities taking place in both Sakhnin and Arraba. The program begins in the morning with visits to the homes of victims' families in Sakhnin, followed by a ceremony at the memorial site to lay wreaths on the graves of the city's victims. The day culminates in participation in the central march to mark the anniversary in Arraba.

Activities commence at 9:00 AM with a gathering at Sakhnin Municipality Square, before proceeding to visit the families of victims. At 10:30 AM, participants will move to the memorial to lay wreaths, as part of the commemoration program prepared by the municipality and the popular committee. In the afternoon, the Higher Follow-up Committee for Arab Citizens in Israel is scheduled to arrive at the Sakhnin memorial at 2:30 PM to participate in the wreath-laying ceremony.

At 3:00 PM, participants will gather at the municipality square for a popular march on foot towards Arraba, to join delegations participating in the commemoration. This march is part of the joint events leading up to the main event at 4:00 PM: the central march to commemorate the October Uprising, which will begin in Arraba. The central march is expected to draw large crowds and delegations from various Arab towns.

The organizers have urged residents of Sakhnin to participate widely in all aspects of the commemoration, emphasizing its importance in honoring the victims and preserving their memory in the collective consciousness. Hillel Tarabiyeh, spokesperson for the Sakhnin Municipality, stated that broad participation is "important and necessary," reflecting loyalty to the victims and a commitment to keeping their memory alive.

The day's events are designed to be comprehensive, starting with visits and wreath-laying in Sakhnin, followed by the popular march to Arraba and participation in the central commemorative march, with the involvement of residents and delegations from across Arab communities.
