Sakhnin Prepares to Mark October Events Anniversary with Marches and Memorial Visits

The city of Sakhnin is preparing to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the October events, also known as the Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Uprising, on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The Sakhnin Municipality and the Popular Committee are organizing a series of events involving residents and popular delegations.

A preparatory meeting was held by the municipality and the committee to finalize the program, which includes visiting the homes of martyrs' families, laying wreaths on their graves, and participating in a central march originating from the city of Arraba.

Events begin at 9:00 AM with a gathering at Sakhnin Municipality Square, followed by visits to the families of martyrs. At 10:30 AM, participants will convene at the Sakhnin memorial to lay wreaths. At 2:30 PM, the Follow-up Committee for the Affairs of the Arab Population in Israel will lay wreaths at the memorial. At 3:00 PM, a public march will commence from the municipality square towards Arraba to join the central march.

The central march to commemorate the Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Uprising is scheduled to start from Arraba at 4:00 PM, with participation expected from various Arab towns. The Sakhnin Municipality and the Popular Committee have called on residents to participate, emphasizing the importance of honoring the martyrs and preserving collective memory. The municipality stated that participation signifies loyalty to the martyrs and ensures the memory of the uprising endures.
