Repeat Offender Caught Driving Under Suspension for Fourth Time
A repeat offender in Beersheba was sentenced to 10 months in prison for driving under suspension for the fourth time. The driver, who had previously been disqualified from driving for a decade, was caught by police after attempting to flee a nighttime pursuit. He had consumed alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
During the pursuit, the driver endangered other road users. The Beersheba Magistrate's Court, in its unusual ruling, also imposed a NIS 10,000 fine on the driver and extended his driving disqualification by an additional two years. The court emphasized the severity of the offense, noting the driver's disregard for previous rulings and the danger he posed to the public.
The judge stated that the driver "showed no remorse" and "continued to drive despite the disqualification." The court also ordered the confiscation of the vehicle the driver was operating. The driver's previous offenses included drunk driving and driving without a license.
