Former Ayalon Highways Chairman Faces Civil Lawsuit Over Alleged Misconduct

Israeli authorities are preparing to file a civil lawsuit against Idan David, the recently dismissed chairman of Ayalon Highways. The lawsuit is expected to address claims of unlawfully receiving approximately NIS 300,000 in salary and damaging the company's reputation. David was removed from his position by the Government Companies Authority's Appointments Committee, chaired by Judge Shulamit Dotan, following a Channel 12 investigative report. The report alleged that David systematically inflated his resume to meet the qualifications for his role and misrepresented his senior management experience.

As a result of the report, the Government Companies Authority alerted the police, who have launched an investigation. Officials anticipate David will also be removed from the company's board of directors in an upcoming meeting. Alex Dan, former deputy CEO of Israel Railways, is reportedly being considered as a candidate for interim chairman. The committee's decision cited discrepancies in the financial scope David managed at 'Migdalit,' where he claimed to have handled NIS 800 million in revenue, significantly higher than the company's actual NIS 17 million in earnings.

Further allegations include David's submission of a reference for his role at IDY GROUP, signed by Tami Shafi, who the report identified as his wife, without disclosing the relationship. David has denied these claims, calling a CPA's letter supporting his qualifications a "complete forgery." The investigation also extends to his potential removal from the Sports Betting Council and a review of his license by the Accountants Council.
