Ayalon Highways Chairman Appointment Canceled Amid Forgery Allegations

The appointment of Idan David as chairman of Ayalon Highways was canceled following revelations of alleged discrepancies in his presented curriculum vitae (CV). The police have launched an investigation into David on suspicion of forgery and other offenses.

The appointment had previously passed through several vetting bodies, including the Ayalon Highways board, the Government Companies Authority, and a committee for examining appointments headed by Justice Shulamit Dotan. However, a "HaMevaker" (The Critic) investigation uncovered significant gaps in David's CV that were apparently missed by these bodies.

Two individuals whose signatures appeared on documents submitted by David have reportedly denied signing them. The investigation also revealed that none of the vetting stages involved contacting a recommender to verify their endorsement. The committee for examining appointments subsequently reversed its earlier decision, citing a reasonable suspicion of a "drastic gap" between the information provided and later findings.

Political circles are expressing concern that the police investigation may uncover knowledge of the fabricated CVs among political figures prior to the appointment. Sources close to David Amsalem have pointed fingers at Transportation Minister Miri Regev, while Regev's associates suggest a figure close to Amsalem pushed for the appointment. The fear is that the probe will extend beyond the documents themselves to examine whether anyone was aware of the discrepancies and chose to ignore them.

In addition to the Ayalon Highways chairmanship, David's role on the Sports Betting Council is also under review by the Attorney General and the appointments committee. The Accountants Council is expected to examine the validity of his license as a certified public accountant, potentially based on the police investigation's findings. Ayalon Highways is reportedly considering legal action against David.
