Maccabi Tel Aviv Club Manager Yoav Ziv Departs After Nine Years

Yoav Ziv, the manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv's senior team, has concluded his nine-year tenure with the club. Ziv, 45, was appointed to the role in the summer of 2017, succeeding Beni Tabak. He may continue with the club in a different capacity. Raz Ben Shimon, a former Air Force officer and reserve colonel, is expected to take over as the new team manager.

Ziv's departure follows an early-season suspension, imposed due to disturbances at the end of the State Cup final against Hapoel Be'er Sheva last May. Players from both teams were also penalized following that incident.

Ziv is recognized as a prominent and respected figure in Israeli football. As a player, he represented Maccabi Tel Aviv from 2010 to 2016. He concluded his playing career with Hapoel Petah Tikva before immediately transitioning to the team manager role at Maccabi Tel Aviv's training ground in Kiryat Shalom. Ziv also earned 32 caps for the Israeli national team and played for several notable clubs, including Maccabi Haifa, Hapoel Haifa, Hapoel Nazareth Illit, Beitar Jerusalem, and Belgian club Lokeren.
