Marcio Santos Stays in EuroLeague, Signs Two-Year Deal with Baskonia
Brazilian center Marcio Santos, who played for Maccabi Tel Aviv last season, will continue his career in the EuroLeague after signing a two-year contract with Spanish club Baskonia. Santos had previously committed to LSU in the NCAA approximately five months ago, a move intended to take him away from Maccabi Tel Aviv and into American college basketball. However, that transfer did not materialize.
Santos was reportedly set to earn around $3 million gross per season in the United States, with Maccabi Tel Aviv also expected to benefit from the transfer, receiving $750,000. Instead, he will now play for Baskonia.
During his tenure with Maccabi Tel Aviv last season, Santos appeared in 37 EuroLeague games, averaging 6.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. He will aim to improve these statistics with his new European team.
