Ex-Maccabi Tel Aviv Center Marcius Santos Signs Two-Year Deal with Baskonia
Former Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball player Marcius Santos will continue his career in Europe, signing a two-year contract with Spanish club Baskonia. Santos, a Brazilian center, had previously committed to LSU of the NCAA approximately five months ago, a move that would have taken him from Maccabi Tel Aviv to the American college league. However, that transfer ultimately did not materialize.
Santos played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the EuroLeague last season, appearing in 37 games. He averaged 6.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. His anticipated move to the NCAA was expected to yield him a gross salary of around $3 million per season, with Maccabi Tel Aviv set to receive a $750,000 transfer fee.
Santos now joins Baskonia, aiming to improve his statistics with his new European team.
