Brazilian center Marcius Santos, formerly of Maccabi Tel Aviv, will continue his European basketball career with Spanish club Baskonia, signing a two-year contract. This move comes after a previous commitment Santos made to LSU of the NCAA fell through approximately five months ago. That earlier agreement was expected to facilitate his departure from Maccabi Tel Aviv and transition him to American college basketball.
Santos was reportedly set to earn around $3 million gross per season in the United States, with Maccabi Tel Aviv also slated to benefit from a $750,000 transfer fee. During his tenure with Maccabi Tel Aviv last season, Santos played in 37 EuroLeague games, averaging 6.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per contest. He now aims to improve these statistics with his new team in Spain.
