Bottle Hurled at Officer as Jerusalem Riots Lead to 11 Arrests

Jerusalem police and Border Police officers arrested 11 suspects overnight in connection with violent riots and vandalism that began around 3:00 AM. The disturbances erupted in the area of Haim Bar-Lev and Zacks streets, where hundreds of youths gathered, blocking roads, throwing stones and objects at civilians and security forces, and damaging municipal vehicles, even stealing one. During the clashes, a Border Police officer was struck in the head by a thrown bottle and evacuated for medical treatment in mild condition. A civilian who was attacked by the rioters was also evacuated in mild condition.

Later, rioters moved to the Damascus Gate area, where they clashed with local residents and continued their disturbances until security forces regained control and dispersed them using various means. The police stated that this behavior by lawbreakers, who acted to harm security forces and civilians, is severe. They emphasized that authorities will continue to use all means to locate additional involved individuals and bring them to justice.
