Jerusalem Riots: Police Arrest 11 Suspects After Overnight Violence
Jerusalem police arrested 11 suspects following overnight riots and violent disturbances on Chaim Bar Lev Boulevard and at Damascus Gate. The disturbances began around 3:00 AM near the celebration of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, held at the "Chut Shel Chessed" institutions. Hundreds of rioters blocked roads, threw stones at civilians and police, damaged municipal vehicles, and stole one, which was later abandoned.
Police forces, including Border Police officers, dispersed the rioters using crowd control measures. During the operation, a female Border Police officer was lightly injured in the head by a thrown bottle. Another person was lightly injured, apparently after being attacked by rioters.
The rioters later moved to the Damascus Gate area, where they clashed with local residents and police. Police dispersed them there as well. In total, 11 suspects were arrested for disturbing the peace, vandalism, and violent incidents and were taken for questioning.
A police spokesperson condemned the "serious conduct of lawbreakers who came with the intention of causing damage, committing acts of vandalism, and attacking security forces and civilians." The police stated they would "not reconcile with violent riots and will act with all means to locate additional involved parties and prosecute them and those arrested at the scene."
