Jerusalem Police Arrest 11 After Ultra-Orthodox Youths Riot, Steal Vehicle
Jerusalem police and Border Police officers arrested 11 suspects overnight following violent disturbances and riots in the capital. The incident began around 3 a.m. on Ha-Nevi'im Street and Damascus Gate, where hundreds of ultra-Orthodox youths blocked roads, threw stones and objects at civilians and police, damaged municipal vehicles, and stole one vehicle, which they later abandoned.
During the unrest, a Border Police officer was lightly injured in the head by a thrown bottle and evacuated for medical treatment. Another person was lightly injured, apparently after being attacked by the rioters, and was also evacuated for treatment.
The rioters later moved to the Damascus Gate area, where they clashed with residents and police. Police dispersed the crowds using various means to regain control of the area.
In total, 11 suspects were arrested on suspicion of rioting, vandalism, and violent incidents. They were taken for questioning at the police station.
