Fuel Prices to Jump by 52 Agorot Per Liter
The Fuel and Gas Administration at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced on Tuesday that fuel prices will increase starting midnight between Wednesday and Thursday. The maximum price for a liter of 95-octane unleaded gasoline at self-service stations will rise by 52 agorot to NIS 8.27, including VAT. The additional charge for full service will remain unchanged at 26 agorot per liter. This price hike is attributed to global energy market developments, including a roughly 13% increase in international gasoline prices driven by rising global oil costs and ongoing concerns about supply disruptions and energy market stability. The strengthening of the dollar by approximately 3% against the shekel also contributed to the increase. The new price incorporates the re-implementation of a 50 agorot per liter fuel excise tax, which had been temporarily reduced from September 7 to the end of October 2026 under a special order. This reduction was previously approved by the Attorney General despite opposition from professional staff in the Treasury who feared it was a "election economy" measure.
