Health Ministry Shuts Down Private Tel Aviv Hospital Over Severe Patient Risk

The Ministry of Health announced Monday it has ordered the immediate closure of the private "Medika" hospital in Tel Aviv's Ramat Hachayal neighborhood following a surprise inspection that revealed serious findings. The ministry stated that the continued operation of the facility posed a severe and immediate danger to patients.

Inspectors discovered instances of medical procedures performed outside of professional authority and in violation of mandatory guidelines, alongside other deficiencies in medical conduct and work processes. The ministry concluded that the findings indicate a systemic failure in the hospital's management, endangering patient health and safety.

The District Health Officer issued an order to cease all medical activity at the hospital effective immediately, pending further notice. All involved parties, including the "Medika" network management, owners, and board of directors, will be summoned for a hearing regarding the observed conduct.

The Ministry of Health is also considering personal measures against individuals found to have acted outside their professional scope. These findings follow previous serious deficiencies identified at Medika Rafael in July, which led to an immediate halt of surgical room operations. Activity at Medika Rafael was later resumed gradually after reported corrections and commitments from management and the board to adhere to licensing conditions.
