Rahat Police Arrest 10 Amid Wild Driving and Shooting Incident
Police in Rahat, a Bedouin city in southern Israel, arrested ten suspects on Monday morning following an incident where individuals were filmed driving recklessly and firing weapons from a moving vehicle. The footage shows people leaning out of cars and shooting into the air while the vehicle speeds along the road. This incident follows another disturbing video from the same city earlier that day, capturing continuous gunfire as children were on their way to educational facilities.
According to the police, the arrests were made as part of an intensified effort against violence perpetrators. Officers from the Rahat station, along with special units, conducted searches and made arrests at the premises of two families involved in an ongoing dispute that has included shooting incidents. The ten individuals detained were taken for further investigation.
On Saturday, residents in the northern Negev region, near Rahat, reported hearing heavy, near-constant gunfire from early morning. Residents of the nearby settlement of Givot Bar described the experience as reminiscent of October 7th, with light arms and machine gun fire heard from 6:29 AM. When contacted, the police stated that patrols were dispatched but the source of the shooting could not be located. Frustrated residents threatened to form their own security force to identify the origin of the gunfire, which they noted began overnight but intensified significantly on Saturday morning.
