Police Arrest Five in Rahat Following Weapons and Ammunition Seizure

Israeli police forces conducted a targeted search operation in the city of Rahat over the weekend, leading to the arrest of five individuals suspected of possessing weapons and a significant quantity of ammunition. The operation involved multiple units, including the "Sahar" unit, Rahat police station, the Southern District's central unit, the Southern District's crime fighting unit, and Border Police fighters.

During the search, officers seized a "shotgun" type rifle, six Glock pistol magazines, M-16 rifle magazines with 5.56mm ammunition, approximately 420 rounds of 9mm ammunition, about 40 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and two M-16 rifle grips. Two suspects from Rahat were apprehended in connection with these findings and taken for further investigation.

In a separate operation near the entrance to Rahat, the "Sahar" unit observed a speeding vehicle. A search of the vehicle's occupants, three residents of Ramla, revealed a knife in the possession of one individual. A further search of the car uncovered a Glock 17 pistol and a magazine.

All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested and transported to the police station along with the vehicle for ongoing investigation. In total, the two operations resulted in the detention and arrest of five suspects and the confiscation of various weapons, magazines, and ammunition.
