Roads Company Chairman Ousted After Investigation Reveals Discrepancies

The committee for examining appointments has decided to remove Idan David from his position as chairman of the Ayalon Highways Company, following an investigative report by Channel 12 News. The decision came after the head of the Investigations and Intelligence Department ordered a probe into David on suspicion of forgery and other offenses.

The committee cited "reasonable suspicion of extreme incompatibility between the information provided to the committee and on which it relied, and data that allegedly emerge from materials on which there is no similar suspicion or any suspicion at all." The committee concluded that its previous decision approving David's suitability for the role was void, and therefore his tenure as chairman is also void.

David was summoned for clarification by the Government Companies Authority. The Channel 12 investigation, aired last Wednesday, revealed alleged significant discrepancies between the details David presented during his appointment process and the findings of the news outlet's examination. He is required to provide explanations and supporting documents for the allegations against him.

Specifically, the investigation focused on data David provided about his work at Migdalit Company, where he claimed to have served as deputy CEO of a company with revenues of approximately NIS 800 million and over 400 employees. However, documents suggested significantly lower figures, and the accountant whose signature appeared on an approval stated he did not provide it and had no connection to the company. The former CEO of Migdalit also denied David's claim of serving as deputy CEO.

David is also being asked to provide evidence for the activity of GROUP IDY, a company he stated employed around 320 people with revenues of NIS 2.1 billion. The Authority noted that David had previously claimed he did not have documented information on the company's activities from an external source and now requires proof, such as an accountant's report or state filings, to verify its scope of operations.

The Authority warned that submitting inaccurate details could be grounds for non-appointment and may lead to criminal proceedings. It also stated that if the information proves false, his appointment approval can be revoked, and his tenure terminated.
