Ayalon Highways Chairman Idan David Ousted Amidst Doubts Over Qualifications

The appointments committee, chaired by Justice Shulamit Dotan, has removed Idan David from his position as chairman of Ayalon Highways. The decision came after an investigation, prompted by a Channel 12 news report, raised serious questions about David's professional experience and the financial figures he presented during his appointment.

The committee's findings indicated that David's reported management of "Migdalit" company's finances, which he claimed was 800 million shekels, was significantly inflated. The actual revenue for the company during his tenure was approximately 17 million shekels. Furthermore, concerns were raised regarding his role as CEO of IDY GROUP, with a document signed by Tami Shafi, allegedly David's wife, not disclosing this relationship, which is a potential conflict of interest.

David's submitted accountant's approval was also challenged, with the accountant reportedly calling the document a forgery. David himself denied the allegations, stating his extensive professional experience speaks for itself and that he was not given adequate time to respond fully. He also suggested the inquiry might be politically motivated, linked to his role as chairman and the Authority for Government Corporations' criticism of his activities.

The committee concluded that David's appointment was based on factually inaccurate information, rendering the basis for his appointment invalid. Consequently, his position as chairman was terminated. The committee stated it is not bound by its previous decision, especially since it was based on incorrect data provided by David himself.

Following the Channel 12 report, which suggested David systematically exaggerated his resume to meet job requirements, the Authority for Government Corporations filed a police complaint, initiating an investigation. David, appointed in July of the previous year as a candidate of Minister David Amsalem, previously served as CEO of Ashkelon Municipality.
