Ayalon District Commander Resigns Amid Controversy Over Holon Police Chief Dismissal

Daniel Hadad, the commander of the Ayalon police district, resigned from his position on Wednesday. Officially, the police stated that Hadad's resignation was due to personal reasons. However, sources close to the matter suggest that his decision was influenced by frustration over the dismissal of Holon police station chief, Deputy Chief Eliad Lankri, which occurred while Hadad was abroad and without his knowledge.

The dismissal of Lankri followed an internal review that uncovered significant shortcomings in the Holon station’s management and operational plans. Based on these findings, Tel Aviv District Commander Chief Superintendent Haim Saragrof recommended Lankri’s immediate removal, citing his unsuitability for the role. Holon station is a large precinct, typically commanded by an officer of Deputy Chief rank, higher than many other stations.

Hadad’s absence during the decision and the lack of consultation reportedly caused tension and dissatisfaction, contributing to his resignation. The Israel Police confirmed the dismissal of Lankri was due to professional and managerial gaps identified in the station. The situation raises questions about whether Hadad’s resignation was solely personal or linked to the controversy surrounding the Holon station leadership change.
