Drunk Driving Suspect Arrested After Fatal Golan Heights Bicycle Collision
A 48-year-old cyclist from northern Israel died yesterday morning after being struck by a car on Route 98 near the Hasfin junction in the Golan Heights. Police reported that initial investigations suggest the 20-year-old driver, a resident of the Golan Heights, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. A breathalyzer test indicated a positive alcohol presence.
The suspect was arrested following the collision. He appeared before the Nazareth-Upper Galilee Magistrate's Court on Saturday evening, which ordered his detention extended until September 29, 2026. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
