Cyclist, 40, Killed in Collision With Car Near Magshimim Junction

A cyclist, approximately 40 years old, died Saturday morning after being struck by a car on Highway 98 near the Magshimim Junction in central Israel. Emergency medical services (Magen David Adom, MDA) arriving at the scene described the incident as severe. Paramedics and EMTs found the cyclist unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, while civilians were performing basic CPR. Despite continued medical efforts, they were forced to declare the cyclist, who sustained severe head injuries, dead at the scene. The driver of the private vehicle sustained minor injuries. Police have launched an investigation into the accident. This marks the second consecutive Saturday a cyclist has been killed by a vehicle. Last week, Itzik Barashi, a 56-year-old editor at Kan News's news division, died in a cycling accident near the Nesherim interchange, leaving behind a wife and three children. According to the National Road Safety Authority, 335 people have died in road accidents in Israel since the beginning of the year, with ten fatalities in the past week.
