Israel Neutralizes Hamas Financial Network, Eliminating Key Operatives

Israel's security establishment has reported a significant achievement in its campaign against Hamas's funding infrastructure, neutralizing 16 key financial operatives responsible for transferring and managing over $1 billion for the militant group's military wing. These funds were channeled through an extensive network of money changers operating in both Turkey and the Gaza Strip.

The operations, conducted by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency, have severely degraded Hamas's ability to sustain its military activities. Among the eliminated senior figures are Ibrahim Abu Shammala, who oversaw finances for Hamas's military wing, and Muhammad Abu Alwan, responsible for the political wing's finances, who was killed last week. Abu Alwan had been with the organization for about a decade, managing the budgeting for all Hamas sectors.

Other high-ranking operatives targeted included the heads of infrastructure responsible for managing fund offsets, receipts, and deliveries. These included Khader Jamasi, Ihab Kherizem, and Hussein Kadra. Kadra, leading an infrastructure, operated a complex network of couriers and money changers with Muhammad Farra and others. This network utilized dozens of individuals in Turkey and Gaza, moving cash and employing alternative channels to bypass international banking systems and oversight.

The neutralized funds were designated for several critical purposes: paying salaries to militants, arming and rearming the organization, rebuilding terror infrastructure, and planning attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. Hamas reportedly continued to pay salaries and fund military operations even after a ceasefire agreement, in clear violation of its terms.

Both the IDF and Shin Bet have stated that anyone directly involved in financing Hamas's military operations is a legitimate target. The security establishment vows to continue its determined efforts to strike and thwart any entity facilitating these illicit financial transfers. Concurrently, they are warning Gaza residents to be aware of individuals still engaged in financing and supporting Hamas's military activities, thereby endangering the local population.
