Man Arrested for Throwing Bottle at Naftali Bennett During Campaign Event

A man who threw a bottle during an event attended by Naftali Bennett in Bnei Brak has had his detention period reduced by the Tel Aviv District Court. Bennett, the chairman of the "Yahad" political bloc, was visiting a cafe in Bnei Brak as part of his election campaign's "meet the people" tour. His presence, however, was met with strong disapproval from some locals and yeshiva students present, who chanted slogans against him. Amidst rising tensions, one individual threw a beer bottle from a distance towards Bennett's table. The bottle struck the wall above the table, shattering and reportedly scratching one of Bennett's aides, though no one was seriously injured. Bennett was then quickly evacuated from the cafe through the agitated crowd.

The suspect, identified as a 26-year-old, was arrested by police. Initially, the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court ordered his detention until September 28. Following an appeal, the District Court reduced the detention period to September 27, citing the "political nature" of the act, the suspect's lack of prior criminal record, and the ongoing holiday period.
