Israeli Teen Killed in Russian Drone Strike on Kyiv Apartment Building

A 14-year-old boy with Israeli citizenship was killed Friday morning when a Russian drone struck an apartment building in Kyiv, Ukraine, as part of a large-scale aerial assault on the capital. The drone directly hit between the 10th and 11th floors of a 16-story residential tower in the Pecherskyi district.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Israel's consul in Kyiv and the department for Israelis in distress abroad are in constant contact with the boy's family and providing all necessary assistance. The attack occurred in the early morning hours, with no immediate air raid siren reported by residents.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that 20 people were injured across the city in the broader attack, including eight hospitalized and a 9-year-old child. Residents described hearing a dull explosion and waking up to the impact. "The attacks are incessant," said one retiree. "We see the missiles and the Shaheds flying, but they never hit us until now. Now this tragedy has happened."

In addition to the fatal strike on the residential building, a drone damaged a commercial structure in the Podilskyi district, and debris from intercepted drones caused damage in the Solomianskyi district. Later Friday, another drone hit a non-residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district after an air raid siren sounded.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the overnight attack was one of the most extensive recently, with Russia launching 282 attack drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, including Iskander and Zircon types. The previous night, a missile attack on Kyiv killed two people and injured eight, hitting a maternity hospital and residential buildings.
