Israeli Teen Killed in Russian Drone Strike on Kyiv Apartment Building

A 14-year-old boy with Israeli citizenship was killed Friday morning when a Russian drone struck an apartment building in Kyiv, Ukraine. The drone directly hit between the 10th and 11th floors of a 16-story residential tower in the Pecherskyi district of the capital.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed it is providing assistance to the boy's family through its consulate in Kyiv and the department for Israelis in distress abroad. "The consulate and the department for Israelis in distress are in continuous contact with the family and are assisting as needed," a ministry statement said.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that 20 people were injured in the broader attack across the city, including an 8-year-old child. Residents described hearing a dull explosion without an air raid siren. The attack also caused damage to a commercial building in the Podilskyi district and to structures from intercepted debris in the Solomianskyi district. Later, another drone hit a non-residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

The Ukrainian Air Force stated that the overnight assault was one of the most extensive recently, with Russia launching 282 attack drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, including Iskander and Zircon types. The previous night, a missile attack on Kyiv killed two people and injured eight, hitting a maternity hospital and residential buildings.
