Million-Dollar Project Eilat Suffers Humiliating 6-0 Soccer Defeat
Hapoel Eilat, a team built with significant investment and high expectations for the 2026/2027 Liga Bet South season, suffered a shocking 6-0 loss to M.S. Shikun HaMizrah on Thursday. The team, which had won its first two matches of the season, featured prominent players for the lower league, including Gil Yitzhak, Gidi Kanyuk, Ran Chashpeya, and Ofek Fishler, none of whom could prevent the heavy defeat.
M.S. Shikun HaMizrah's goals came from Muad Abu Shladam, who scored in the 22nd and 52nd minutes, Natan Tasla in the 35th minute, Yossi Salich who netted a brace in the 55th and 57th minutes, and substitute Itai Zrihan who completed the scoring in the 84th minute.
Prior to this loss, Eilat had secured victories against Ashkelon (1-0) and Beitar Mevaseret Zion (2-0). The team, which saw its professional manager Kobi Refua depart after just one match, now sits in fifth place in the league standings with six points.
