Bnei Eilat Sacks Coach Meir Cohen After Humiliating Defeat
Meir Cohen, the coach of Israeli fifth-tier football club Bnei Eilat, is set to be fired following a devastating 6-0 loss to Shikun Hamizrah in the third round of the league.
The decision comes after a period of instability for the club, which recently saw its professional manager Kobi Refua replaced by Ofer Fabian. Cohen received notification of a hearing shortly after the match, signaling the end of his tenure.
During an emergency meeting attended by owners Dudu and Natalie Vaturi and new professional manager Fabian, several candidates were discussed to replace Cohen. These include Shahar Weizinger, Nimrod Costica, Sharon Hitman, and Dor Levi.
In addition to the coaching change, the club also informed new signing Ofek Fishler that he should seek another team. However, the team's leadership decided to give striker Gil Yitzhak more time, despite some calls for his release.
