Woman Dies in Haifa; Partner Arrested on Suspicion of Murder

A woman in her 30s has died from her injuries in Haifa after being found with a penetrating wound and evacuated to Rambam Hospital in critical condition. Her partner, a 28-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in her death. Police are expected to request an extension of his detention.

The victim's body will be transferred to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute for examination, with police stating that "all lines of investigation are being examined." MDA paramedic Mohammed Hazam described the scene on Ha'atzmaut Street as "difficult," recounting how paramedics performed life-saving resuscitation efforts before transporting the woman to the hospital.

Following the incident, the Michal Sela Forum, an organization addressing domestic violence, commented that the holiday period exacerbates family tensions. They stated that extended time off, close proximity, and disruption of routine can lead to dangerous levels of stress and aggression, particularly for women and children at risk.

This case follows the recent discovery of the body of Fatma Rajabi, 61, from East Jerusalem, who had been missing for nearly a week. An East Jerusalem resident in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of her murder. The Abraham Initiatives organization reported that 179 Arab citizens have been killed since the start of the year, including 12 women.

Rajabi's phone was last tracked in Ras al-Amud, East Jerusalem, leading to extensive searches. A gag order was placed on that case. The suspect in Rajabi's death was arrested by Jerusalem police, and the scene where her body was found was identified during the investigation. The suspect's remand hearing is ongoing under a publication ban.
