Armed Man Firing at Building Near Nazareth Neutralized by Police

Police neutralized a man in his 30s who fired an automatic weapon at a building in the town of Yafia, near Nazareth, on Thursday night. The suspect, who was reportedly firing an M-16 rifle, was critically wounded by police fire and later died at the English Hospital in Nazareth. The motive for the shooting is believed to be criminal.

According to police, officers from the Northern District were on operational deployment in Yafia when they observed the armed man firing at a structure. The officers engaged the suspect, neutralizing him. Police stated the suspect had engaged in "massive firing" at the residential building, which had also been targeted in recent days. The suspect arrived on a scooter with another individual, and after a foot pursuit, forces apprehended him after he was injured by police gunfire.

Northern District Commander, Superintendent Meir Eliyahu, assessed the situation at the scene and praised the detectives for their actions in neutralizing the armed man and preventing casualties. Emergency medical services reported receiving the call at 11:53 PM. Paramedics provided advanced resuscitation efforts en route to the hospital, where his death was pronounced.
