Netanyahu Addresses UN General Assembly Amidst Election and Iran Tensions

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to deliver remarks at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday evening. His speech comes against the backdrop of an ongoing election campaign in Israel and heightened tensions with Iran. Netanyahu is expected to address the situation in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as Israel's achievements in its conflict with Iran.

During his address, the Prime Minister is also anticipated to discuss what he terms French President Emmanuel Macron's "lie" that Hamas is not operating in the West Bank. The recent attack in which Neriah Laiter, son of Israel's ambassador to the US, was injured is also expected to be a topic.

Earlier, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas addressed world leaders via video link after the Trump administration denied him a visa to enter the United States. Abbas warned against allowing another "Nakba," referring to the 1948 displacement of Palestinians, and urged the international community to protect the Palestinian people and advance a two-state solution, blaming Israeli policy for undermining it.

In related UN addresses, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated that Iran would "never bow down" to President Trump and claimed Iranians were "victims of terror." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin as "Patient Zero" spreading war and instability.
