Netanyahu and Abbas to Address UN General Assembly
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas are scheduled to address the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday. Abbas's speech will be delivered via video link after the Trump administration denied him an entry visa to the United States.
Netanyahu is expected to land at a US military airport shortly and will address the General Assembly at 9:00 PM Israel time. During his visit, he is scheduled to meet with the presidents of Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Panama, and Ethiopia, as well as the vice president of Colombia. He will also meet with the prime ministers of Greece, Slovenia, and Papua New Guinea.
Numerous world leaders requested meetings with Netanyahu during his visit. However, due to a tight schedule and the need to return before the Sukkot holiday, he could only accommodate a portion of these requests.
In related news, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi addressed the assembly on Wednesday, stating Iran would "never bow its head" to President Trump and claiming Iranians were "victims of terror." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Russian President Vladimir Putin a "patient zero" spreading war and instability.
