Netanyahu Heads to UN General Assembly to Defend Israel
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed early Thursday for New York to deliver a speech at the United Nations General Assembly. He did not make any public statements before leaving with his delegation.
Netanyahu is expected to address several key issues during his address, including Israel's achievements during the recent conflict, comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron regarding Hamas's activity in the West Bank, and the attack on Route 443 where Neria Lytar, son of Israel's ambassador to the United States, was injured.
In a video released shortly before his departure, Netanyahu stated, "I am heading tonight to New York to defend the State of Israel and the soldiers of the IDF from the UN platform. You hear the terrible things being published there and elsewhere in the world. I will fight against the lies. I will defend the truth about our soldiers and our country. Yes, and there will also be surprises." The speeches by world leaders are expected to focus international attention on the war and the suffering of civilians in Gaza.
