Israeli Foreign Minister Congratulates Likely Colombian President-Elect and Invites Him to Israel
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar congratulated Abelardo De la Espriella, who is emerging as the winner of Colombia’s presidential election, even though the final results have not yet been announced. Saar wrote that “the tiger won, Colombia won,” referring to De la Espriella’s nickname, “the tiger.”
Saar said he looked forward to working with the president-elect to revive relations between Israel and Colombia and take them to an all-time high. He also said he had invited De la Espriella to visit Israel.
“[I] hope to welcome him in Jerusalem very soon,” Saar added, making clear that he expects the new Colombian leader to come to Israel shortly after the election result is finalized.
