Trump Declares De la Espriella the Winner in Colombia’s Election
U.S. President Donald Trump said right-wing candidate Abelardo de la Espriella had won Colombia’s presidential election, posting on X, "He won, big!" Trump shared a news report highlighting de la Espriella’s lead over his left-wing rival, Ivan Cepeda.
De la Espriella has not yet been formally declared the winner. With more than 99% of the vote counted, he is ahead of Cepeda by less than 1 percentage point, a margin of about 245,000 votes.
Cepeda said the results were "not final" and said he intended to challenge them in 33,000 polling stations. The final outcome remains pending official confirmation.
