Colombia’s President-Elect Signals Stronger Ties with Israel

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar spoke with Colombia’s president-elect, Abelardo de la Espriella, whom he described as a “true friend of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.” Sa’ar said he congratulated him on his important election win, which he said creates hope and the possibility of a better future for Colombia and its citizens.

De la Espriella replied on X that “Colombia will restore and renew its relations with the State of Israel as never before.” He added that Israel can rely on Colombia “as a friend and a loyal ally.” The exchange highlights an expectation of closer ties between the two countries after the election.
