Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar spoke on Tuesday with Colombia’s president-elect, Abelardo de la Espriella, congratulating him on his election victory and wishing him success in his new role. Sa’ar said the result raised hopes for a better future for Colombia and its citizens.
During the conversation, de la Espriella reaffirmed his commitment to a strong alliance between Colombia and Israel. He said that alliance would be “stronger than ever,” adding that this commitment had also been reflected during his election campaign.
Sa’ar emphasized Israel’s desire to deepen the relationship “for the benefit of both peoples.” He said, “We will do this together, Colombia and Israel, and in a big way!” The call comes as the two sides look toward closer cooperation after de la Espriella’s win.
