Hapoel Tel Aviv Reaches Agreement with Yam Madar Over Compensation

The protracted dispute between basketball player Yam Madar and his former team, Hapoel Tel Aviv, has been resolved with an agreement that will allow Madar to register for the EuroLeague with his new club, Maccabi Tel Aviv. The disagreement centered on financial claims, with each side asserting the other owed them money.

Ultimately, Hapoel Tel Aviv agreed to compensate Madar with 150,000 shekels. In return, Madar signed a waiver, releasing Hapoel Tel Aviv from any further claims and officially closing the matter. Hapoel Tel Aviv reportedly sought to end the saga quickly, understanding that a compromise was necessary for both parties to move forward.

The negotiations were reportedly led by Madar's agent, Misko Raznatovic, who conferred with Hapoel Tel Aviv chairman Stav Shaham, reaching a mutually satisfactory resolution. Madar had previously exercised his buyout clause, paying $300,000 to leave Hapoel Tel Aviv and sign a record-breaking contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv. His new deal is worth a net $2 million per season for three guaranteed years, with two additional team or player option years, and carries a total cost of $4 million to Maccabi Tel Aviv due to employer taxes.
