Hapoel Tel Aviv Settles Dispute with Yam Madar for NIS 150,000
The protracted dispute between basketball player Yam Madar and Hapoel Tel Aviv has been resolved, paving the way for his registration with Maccabi Tel Aviv for his EuroLeague debut on Thursday. The conflict stemmed from a financial disagreement, with both parties claiming the other owed them money. Ultimately, Hapoel Tel Aviv compensated Madar with NIS 150,000, and in return, Madar signed a waiver of claims, officially closing the matter.
Hapoel Tel Aviv sought to end the saga, recognizing the need for a compromise to allow both sides to move forward. Madar's agent, Miško Ražnatović, led the negotiations with Hapoel Tel Aviv chairman Stav Shacham, reaching an agreement satisfactory to both parties.
Madar joined Maccabi Tel Aviv this summer on a contract reported to be the most expensive in the club's history. He exercised a buyout clause, paying $300,000 to leave Hapoel Tel Aviv. His new deal with Maccabi is worth a net $2 million per season for three guaranteed years, with two additional years under a mutual option. The total cost to Maccabi, including employer taxes, is estimated at $4 million net.
