Pro-Palestinian Activist Revealed as White Jewish Woman with Israeli Parents

Hana Gane, a prominent activist who for years presented herself as a Black Palestinian-Tunisian woman, has admitted to fabricating her identity. The 34-year-old high school teacher from Philadelphia confessed in an apology published in the New York Post that she lied about her heritage and has no Palestinian or Tunisian roots. Her parents, who live in Israel, are reportedly from Virginia.

Gane allegedly used makeup to darken her skin and adopted various accents to support her false persona. Her activism, often described as pro-Hamas, included participating in protests against Israel. In 2024, she was involved in a demonstration outside a Jewish bakery in Philadelphia and spoke at an anti-Israel rally, stating that "the life of every martyr is precious" and that Palestinians should have the same energy as a child throwing a stone at an Israeli tank.

Her deception came to light following efforts by organizations like Canary Mission and Accuracy in Media. Accuracy in Media even deployed a truck in her neighborhood and outside her school with a message calling her "Philadelphia's leading antisemite." Gane also reportedly posted anti-Jewish content online, mocking a Jewish teacher concerned about "From the river to the sea" slogans and sharing an image of a burning McDonald's, linking to a list of Jewish-owned businesses for potential boycotts.

Despite the exposure of her true identity, Gane stated that her views and stance against Israel remain unchanged. The revelation has reportedly shocked pro-Palestinian circles in the U.S., who were unaware of her background.
