The Israeli national football team is set to face Austria in their UEFA Nations League opener in Budapest on Thursday, with all tickets sold out for the match. Animosity has surfaced between the Israeli and Irish football associations. The Israeli FA chairman sent a strong letter to UEFA regarding harsh statements made by the Irish. The Irish have also expressed anger over Israeli team staff allegedly booking rooms at the same hotel used by the Irish delegation, a claim denied by an Israeli FA source who stated they had booked the hotel first.

To maintain focus, Ben Shimon has instructed his players to disregard the controversy with Ireland and concentrate solely on Austria. Some Israeli players of Arab descent have opted out of interviews due to concerns that any statement could escalate tensions unnecessarily, though their feelings on the matter are understood by the team.
