Israel National Football Team Prepares for Nations League Opener

The Israeli national football team is continuing its preparations for the upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign. Midfielder Eliel Peretz of Hapoel Be'er Sheva spoke on Tuesday about the team's mindset and recent experiences.

Peretz described the team's observance of Yom Kippur in Austria, noting the difficulty of being away from family but highlighting the positive atmosphere and sense of community among the players during prayers. "It wasn't simple to leave the families. But the atmosphere here is amazing and it was fun to pray. We felt at home. Lots of prayers and words of Torah. It was fulfilling," he stated.

Looking ahead to the match against Austria, Peretz acknowledged their strength, referencing their performance in World Cup qualifiers and the tournament itself. "This is a really good team. We saw what they did in the World Cup qualifiers and in the tournament itself. We will come to every game with the best attitude. We know we are starting a new Nations League campaign and understand the significance for the Euros. We want to win. We need to stop their transitions and bring our abilities to bear," he said.

Discussing the long break between matches, Peretz mentioned that the team has four games scheduled within eleven days. He expressed confidence in the squad's depth, believing that any player called upon will contribute positively. "We understand this is a challenging period. We will arrive prepared for every game and come to excel," Peretz concluded.
