Police Officer Critically Injured in Ramallah Area Car Ramming Attack

A police officer in his thirties sustained critical injuries on Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle in a car ramming attack near the Makabim checkpoint on Route 443, close to Ramallah. Magen David Adom paramedics, working with an Israeli military medical team, provided initial treatment at the scene before transporting the officer to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. He is reportedly suffering from head injuries.

Hebrew media reported that the attacker was neutralized at the scene. In an initial statement, police said a suspect rammed a police patrol vehicle with his car in the West Bank area on Route 443. According to police, one patrol officer was seriously wounded, and forces at the scene opened fire on the attacker, killing him.

Later, police clarified that the attacker approached a police patrol in the Benjamin region, near the "Beit El" checkpoint, and collided with a crew member. Forces present then shot and killed the assailant.

Following the incident, Netivei Yisrael announced the closure of Route 443 westbound near Beit Horon to traffic. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the attack.
