Family of Eldar Dayan Demands Investigation into Police Handling of His Death

The family of the late Eldar Dayan, 22, has initiated legal proceedings and is demanding the establishment of an investigative committee to examine the police's conduct in the case of his disappearance and death. The family alleges that severe negligence and failures in handling the case hampered the investigation and the pursuit of truth.

Dayan, from Dimona, disappeared after going out with two friends in central Israel. Reports indicate a brawl occurred in the Yarkon area shortly before his disappearance. Approximately three weeks after he went missing, his body was found in an open area near Petah Tikva, close to where his vehicle was located.

During the investigation, suspects were arrested on suspicion of involvement in his death. However, the investigation took a turn when, due to the body's condition, the exact cause of death could not be definitively determined pathologically. Consequently, the suspects were released.

Against the backdrop of these developments and the release of the suspects, Dayan's family is now calling for a comprehensive review of the police's actions and their handling of his disappearance and the investigation into the circumstances of his death.
